Our Approach

In an ever-evolving educational landscape, there are many Multi Academy Trusts working to meet the needs of their schools and communities. So, what makes Our Community Multi Academy Trust (OCMAT) unique?

As a mixed Church MAT, our family includes voluntary aided, voluntary controlled, and former local authority schools — from small rural settings to larger infant and junior schools, nurseries, and a specialist speech and language provision.

We began as a group of four schools, united through the academisation process, and have since welcomed six more into our Trust. This experience has given us the confidence, knowledge, and stability to support schools through both conversion and growth.

Our Articles of Association commit us to upholding and promoting the Christian distinctiveness of our church schools, with the majority of our members appointed by the Diocese. At the same time, we are proud to serve all communities, offering the highest quality education and care for every child.

We nurture environments where children thrive academically, socially, culturally, and spiritually — ensuring every pupil feels valued and safe.

WE BELIEVE THE STRENGTH OF OUR TRUST LIES IN OUR COLLABORATION

By sharing expertise, resources, and a shared vision for excellence, we help every school on its journey — supporting the strong to become outstanding, and the growing to flourish.

Collaboration & Autonomy

At Our Community Multi Academy Trust, one of our core principles is achieving consistent impact while valuing the individuality of each school — made possible through meaningful collaboration.

Our schools work closely together, learning from one another to understand what works best in their own unique contexts, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach.

By connecting and sharing expertise, ideas, and resources, our schools strengthen one another. This balance of collaboration and autonomy allows us to focus on what truly matters — making a real difference for every child, every day.

Collaboration is at the heart of Our Community Multi Academy Trust — it’s what connects us, strengthens us, and continues to grow more dynamic each year.

Our staff and leaders regularly come together to enhance the quality of learning for all pupils across our schools.

Here are just a few examples of how collaboration happens across the Trust:

  • Career development through bespoke CPD programmes

  • Cross-school coaching and mentoring

  • Joint training and professional learning opportunities

  • Subject network collaboration

  • Ongoing support from the Trust Executive Team

  • Seasonal visits and shared best practice

  • Idea-sharing across schools

  • Personalised 1:1 support where needed

If you’re interested in collaborating with Our Community Multi Academy Trust or have a partnership idea to explore, we’d love to hear from you.
