Join our Trust

In our constantly developing educational landscape, there are a growing number of Multi Academy Trusts that have formed to meet the needs of their schools and their local communities. So, what makes Our Community Multi Academy Trust unique and why should you choose to join us? As a mixed church MAT, we have a mixture of voluntary aided, voluntary controlled and previously maintained local authority schools; small rural schools, a large infant and junior school, two nurseries, and special resource provision for speech and language. Originally coming together as a group of four schools and going through the academisation conversion process and then taking on an additional six schools has allowed us to feel confident in conversion and merging. Within our Articles of Association, we have a statutory duty to uphold and promote the Christian distinctiveness of our church schools and to ensure the majority of members are appointed by the diocese.

We are fully committed to serving communities by providing the highest quality of education and care for every child in our Trust and beyond by providing schools where children develop and thrive academically, socially, culturally, and spiritually in the safest environments possible. Our focus on our local communities flourishing can be seen in our Trust Vision and Values.

We believe that the strength of our Trust lies within the collaborative commitment from all our schools to continue to improve as one. We utilise our financial resources and the expertise within our central team to support all our schools on their improvement journey, and work with our already strong schools to ensure they become truly great schools.  Taking the decision to join a MAT is a significant step and needs to be very carefully researched and considered to ensure that it’s the right Trust for the school and the right school for the Trust. It is a decision that is for the long term and will provide a legacy from the leaders and governors who drive the conversion.

Core purpose

The core purpose of the Trust is to maintain good and outstanding schools, and to ensure the rapid improvement of schools which need support in the future. The Trust must also act as a vehicle for enabling the sharing of best practice across the schools to ensure continual improvement. The Trust will provide the financial capacity to achieve economies of scale to benefit every child in every school within the Trust.

The Trust will create and maintain a shared culture which requires everyone whatever their role, staff or pupil, governor or parent, to take responsibility for their position and be accountable for what they achieve.  We will be driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of all children. Our shared culture will respect, uphold and complement each school’s distinctive ethos and character.

What makes us unique?

Our Community Multi Academy Trust is unique in that it is a primary only mixed Church of England MAT with both Church and Community schools.  We have long time successful relationship with both the Diocese of Canterbury and Kent Local Authority which will continue to offer us a range of resources and opportunities.
