Safeguarding
Our Community Multi Academy Trust is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for children, staff, and visitors across all our schools. We strive to foster a culture where everyone feels empowered to share any concerns regarding their own safety and well-being or that of others.
We cultivate a positive safeguarding culture by recognizing the importance of the right values, behaviours, and attitudes, while ensuring that pupils have opportunities for their voices to be heard and understood.
Within our Schools, Safeguarding is our top priority.
Each School within our Trust has Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL). The role of the DSL was specified in the Children Act 2004, stating that every organisation that works with children should have a role dedicated to safeguarding. Our DSLs are extremely knowledgeable about all things safeguarding and are available to support children and families with any concerns they have.
All our Schools will have posters dotted around for families to recognise who their DSLs are, and a way to contact them. We also ensure that we have child-friendly posters so children feel safe and know who to speak to if they have any worries.
DSLs are accredited and trained in safeguarding. They will often liaise with other agencies to safeguard children and share concerns that have been raised.
We always ensure that there are DSLs on site at School, and as a minimum requirement there will always be at least one DSL available at all of our School sites.
Our OCMAT Child Protection Policy is annually updated with new changes that come into effect from KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education). This enables us to know of any changes in policies or laws, which would impact how we manage concerns surrounding our children.
